2026 Research Day

The 42nd YSE Research Day takes place on April 10, 2026!

Research Day is our yearly opportunity to showcase the diverse, multidisciplinary research conducted at the Yale School of the Environment. We are excited to announce that our keynote speaker this year will be Dr. Jeffrey McDonnell, Distinguished Professor of Hydrology at the University of Saskatchewan.  We welcome questions from the community for Dr. McDonnell to answer during or after his keynote address here

Dr. McDonnell is the author of Navigating an Academic Career: A Brief Guide for PhD Students, Postdocs, and New Faculty, available for free at this link. We will be offering a few print copies of the book to students, postdocs, and faculty who are interested in discussing the book as a book club. If you are interested in participating in a book club discussion, please fill out this form

To present at Research Day, submit your abstract on your YSE Hub profile (log in using CAS, select Your Profile > Edit > Research Day > Add new content item > SAVE). Please submit by 11:59 pm EST on Sunday, February 22.

If interested in volunteering as a panel moderator or judge, please complete this form

Enhance your presentation skills for Research Day!

Individual coaching sessions with the YSE communication coaches, Julie, William, and Nicole, are available starting Wednesday, February 18th.

In your session you will deliver your talk, handle Q&A, and receive a video of your presentation for self-critique. Note, you can schedule your Research Day session at any stage of your process. Often, working with a coach at earlier stages will help you identify ways to enhance slides and content still in development. If you are unable to attend your scheduled session be sure to cancel at least 24 hours in advance within Yale Connect and by emailing Julie. This way another presenter will be able to use that session.

Book your session at  https://bit.ly/YSECoaching.  Any questions, reach out to Julie at julie.vance@yale.edu.
